Our aim has been to develop an adaptive model that can be used to fit the needs of the community and the site.
Redefining the Edge System
Our solution has a holistic approach to achieve climate resilience. We aim to work with local communities, environmental organisations, and other stakeholders of coastal areas. This adaptive model has been developed through communication with the fishing community, and ecology experts.
The model is simple and easy to deploy. The individual modules are made from organic materials which would decompose in a period of 10 years, giving support to mangrove saplings (the species are carefully selected based of the location) to have a higher chance to survive and grow in various coastal conditions. By connecting the modules either hexagon or an island can be formed based on the need, we will monitor the development through the years and establish programs to help upscale the skills of vulnerable coastal communities. Over time this will create a new habitat for fishes, help manage flooding and improve the overall health of the community.

1. Individual
​ Made from porous and organic material which will decompose natural in a period of 10 years. It is lightweight and easy to install and connect and the height can be varied adding on top.
2. Hexagon
Six individual modules are connected to form the honeycomb/ hexagon.
3. Island
These islands are crucial as they will act as breeding grounds for fishes, they have a soft net placed within the island which will allow the fish to lay eggs safely.
Our approach is divided into two parts: Our Initiative and Community Proposals.

Our Initiative: We will carefully select sites that need ecological restoration and economic regeneration in coastal developing countries and work with them to adapt our design to fit their needs. We aim to work in teams with coastal communities like fishermen to connect the individual modules into hexagon and deploy them across large areas near vulnerable coastlines.

Community Proposals: As it´s an open-source design, individuals and communities can come to us with a proposal to implement our initiative in their sites. We will provide all the services.
